About Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA): PPFA is a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently operated Planned Parenthood affiliates throughout the United States. Additionally, the Planned Parenthood Action Fund serves as our advocacy and political arm, engaging in educational initiatives, grassroots organizing, and legislative advocacy.
Role Overview: As a vital member of the Office of the General Counsel, the Senior Counsel will provide exceptional legal guidance and strategic business leadership on a variety of issues impacting PPFA, the Action Fund, and Planned Parenthood Global (collectively referred to as the "National Office"). Reporting directly to the Deputy General Counsel, this role is crucial in managing legal disputes and advising on workplace policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Litigation Management: Oversee litigation and legal disputes involving the National Office, including investigating claims and managing outside counsel.
- Workplace Legal Advisory: Collaborate with the Department of People, Culture and Equity to enhance employment-related policies and training for supervisors.
- Business Transactions: Assist business leaders in negotiating and drafting workforce-related agreements, ensuring compliance with legal standards.
- Policy Development: Contribute to the development and management of workplace policies, ensuring a safe and equitable environment for all employees.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Eligibility to practice in New York or Washington, DC.
- A minimum of seven years of relevant legal experience, particularly in litigation and dispute resolution.
- Strong knowledge of labor and employment laws, with a focus on local regulations in New York City and Washington, DC.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with diverse stakeholders and provide sound legal counsel.
