Job Summary
As a key member of our healthcare team, the Nurse Manager Assistant will collaborate with the Nurse Manager to oversee staff and unit operations, providing direct patient care and ensuring the delivery of safe and quality patient care on the unit. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and patient-focused individual who is committed to delivering exceptional patient care and experience.Key Responsibilities
- Oversee patient care activities, including staff allocation and scheduling, patient assignments, rounds, and investigation/resolution of patient care issues.
- Provide direct patient care consistent with the charge nurse/clinical registered nurse job description accountabilities, maintaining all clinical competencies outlined.
- Perform patient experience activities to ensure that patient experience expectations are met or exceeded, including role modeling, staff mentoring/coaching, patient rounds, service recovery, and problem resolution.
- Assist with continuing staff development, including clinical problem solving and decision making skills, and collaborate with clinical nurse educators to support new staff orientation and training.
- Perform administrative and quality management activities to ensure that quality expectations and regulatory requirements are met, including unit compliance with departmental, Prisma Health, safety, regulatory, environmental, and infection control standards.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to perform human resources activities, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, coaching, counseling, staff rounding, and performance management of unit staff.
- Assist the Nurse Manager in maintaining unit budget by appropriate allocation and utilization of unit resources, and share accountability with the Nurse Manager for unit/department/organizational goal achievement.
- Assist in planning, directing, and evaluating various short-term and long-term projects for the unit, developing, submitting, implementing, and evaluating performance objectives for self and unit.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and 2 years of RN experience in an appropriate area of nursing. Current R.N. Licensure as recognized by South Carolina. Previous management or supervisory experience preferred. Certified in nursing specialty preferred.
Work Environment
Greenville Memorial Med Campus, Neuroscience & Stroke Unit. Prisma Health is an equal opportunity employer.
