About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Staff Pharmacist to join our team at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Management: Perform accurate and timely computer order entry, review medication profiles, and ensure patient safety by identifying potential medication errors.
  • Therapeutic Monitoring: Conduct regular monitoring of specified drug therapies, recommend dosage adjustments as needed, and provide education to patients and healthcare teams.
  • Leadership and Collaboration: Manage technicians and supportive personnel, delegate tasks, and participate in new employee orientation and training.
  • Quality Improvement: Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives, monitor target drugs, and communicate opportunities for improvement.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to state and federal laws, regulations, and organizational policies, including audits and control of controlled substances.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor of Science (BS) degree or Doctor of Pharmacy (PhD) degree required.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience in a hospital setting required for inpatient positions; 1 year of retail experience preferred.
  • Licensure: Eligible for licensure by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) required and Texas license with TSBP within 30 days of hire.
  • Certifications: Sterile compounding (IV) certification accredited by ACPE, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification with course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification with course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) required for inpatient positions.
