The Energy Storage Project Coordinator will oversee the advancement of large-scale battery storage initiatives within the market. This role entails aiding in the progression of the current project pipeline, initiating new developments, and facilitating project acquisitions. You will be expected to effectively articulate intricate development scenarios and navigate challenges from the inception of projects through to their construction phase. Travel may be required for site assessments, development tasks, and commercial engagements to ensure project timelines are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and assess the flow of information pertinent to project development from both internal experts and external consultants/vendors.
- Take ownership of project inputs and assumptions, coordinating updates with relevant internal teams.
- Oversee project progress, identifying risks, opportunities, and financial implications while providing comprehensive analysis and risk assessments.
- Drive decision-making and prioritize resource allocation based on a thorough understanding of scheduling dependencies and financial consequences.
- Maintain an in-depth awareness of the energy storage market landscape, including regulatory and competitive dynamics, to guide development strategies.
- Monitor project advancements through critical development milestones, managing timelines and budgets, and coordinating efforts across various departments within the organization.
- Assist in due diligence processes for acquisitions.
- Negotiate lease and purchase agreements for site control.
- Coordinate engineering tasks necessary for obtaining permits and addressing interconnection issues.
- Collaborate closely with the engineering team to support design and EPC processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science, Management, or a related analytical discipline is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in energy storage or renewable energy development within an Independent System Operator (ISO), with a focus on project management, permitting, offtake negotiations, interconnection, planning, and real estate.
- Proven track record in developing utility-scale energy storage and/or renewable energy projects within an ISO framework.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal codes, procedures, and regulations relevant to planning and construction.
- Experience in preparing, negotiating, and finalizing commercial agreements, including development, site control, consulting, service, interconnection, and power sales agreements.
- Ability to manage a diverse workload across multiple projects while effectively prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Comprehensive understanding of the MISO market or other ISOs, particularly regarding interconnection, regulatory, and offtake issues.
- Capacity to assess development status and provide critical insights for management decision-making.
- Willingness to travel domestically up to 30% of the time, including occasional overnight trips.
- Commitment to adhere to all company ethics and safety protocols.
Salary Range: $84,000 - $128,800 annually. This range reflects the average expected compensation for qualified candidates. Actual salary may vary based on factors such as experience, education, and internal alignment.
In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan.
