About the Role

The Counter Terrorism Analyst role at the City of New York is a unique opportunity for aspiring counterterrorism professionals to gain investigative and legal experience. As a key member of the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), you will work closely with prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to collect and analyze evidence, write reports, present briefings, and testify.

Key Responsibilities
  • Draft legal processes, analyze returns, and present findings to the case team.
  • Perform Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) research, database checks, and lead generation to enhance cases.
  • Develop expertise on terrorist groups, investigative methods, tools, and technological developments, including cryptocurrency, AI, and encryption.
  • Write reports and give presentations on selected topics.
  • Assist in grand jury presentations and trials, as well as liaise with internal and external partners.
Requirements

To be eligible for this role, candidates must possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited college and relevant experience in the criminal justice field or equivalent. A master's degree can be substituted for years of experience. Preferred requirements include proficiency in Arabic, knowledge of data analysis and/or programming, and experience in law enforcement or terrorism-related fields.

This position requires a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy. The successful candidate must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and possess excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $80,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. The City of New York offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
