Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Services Apprentice to join our team at Clayton County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance on all plumbing systems and equipment at our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate hand tools and sewer machines as assigned by supervisory staff.
  • Assemble plumbing equipment and record repairs made and parts used according to departmental guidelines.
  • Accurately diagnose malfunctioning plumbing equipment and systems.
  • Work with other Facility Services and district personnel to ensure seamless operations.
  • Assist with District and emergency assignments as operationally necessary.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required; trade-specific certificate preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year plumbing experience preferred.
  • Valid Georgia driver's license required; CDL preferred.
  • Makes decisions and recommendations under the guidance and supervision of Plumbing Supervisor.
Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a variable work environment, including the Facility Services Complex, school grounds, and all buildings. They will be subjected to a wide range of weather conditions and temperatures.

Physical Demands

The position requires the ability to walk, stand, kneel, drive for eight (8) hours per day, climb a thirty (30) foot ladder, and negotiate stairs. The candidate must also be able to lift fifty (50) pounds frequently and one (100) pounds occasionally.

Pre-Employment Physical Examination

A pre-offer/pre-employment physical examination is required as part of the hiring process for this position. Applicants are responsible for the cost of the examination (up to $300) and will be reimbursed upon successfully passing the examination and hired with Clayton County Public Schools-Facilities Services.
