Job Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will provide support to the instructional process under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist. The successful candidate will identify students with communication disabilities, implement treatment plans, and ensure compliance with legal and administrative requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess students' communication skills to identify communication disorders and develop recommendations for treatment.
  • Collaborate with the supervisor to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Instruct eligible students in the use of communication technologies to minimize the adverse educational impact of communication disorders.
  • Maintain accurate records and files to ensure the availability of information as required.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and/or gather information.
  • Perform site visits to provide therapy and assistance as required.
  • Prepare written materials to document activities, provide written reference, and convey information.
  • Provide speech and language therapy to students in accordance with mandated timelines, district procedures, and state and federal requirements.
  • Report health and safety issues to assigned administrators and appropriate agencies.
  • Respond to inquiries from parents, teachers, staff, students, and other stakeholders.
  • Schedule student therapies to direct services in a timely manner.
  • Submit Medicaid billings to conform to established district policies and requirements.
  • Transport supplies and equipment to various sites to ensure the availability of items as needed.

Requirements:

  • Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.
  • Arizona Department of Health License.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competency.
  • Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.

Working Environment:

The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will work in a variety of settings, including schools and other educational facilities. The job requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
