Job Summary

Bayfront Health is seeking a highly skilled Senior Medical Physicist to join our team. As a key member of our Radiation Oncology department, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and maintenance of radiation therapy treatments.

Key Responsibilities

1. Administrative

1.1 Collaborate with department leaders to allocate resources, including equipment usage, staffing, and budgeting.

1.2 Supervise physicists, dosimetrists, and therapists, ensuring the highest level of patient care.

1.3 Authorize equipment purchases and develop a comprehensive maintenance program.

1.4 Develop and administer a Quality Assurance program to ensure accurate treatment delivery.

1.5 Collaborate with the Radiation Safety Officer to develop a comprehensive radiation safety program.

1.6 Monitor treatment staff performance and provide necessary equipment and support.

2. Consultative

2.1 Develop performance specifications for new equipment and approve for clinical use.

2.2 Calculate and certify shielding for new or modified radiation areas.

2.3 Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and physics staff on individual patient treatment plans.

2.4 Develop and approve new or non-standard treatment techniques.

2.5 Provide statistical analysis for treatment efficacy evaluation.

2.6 Review and approve charts and tables for accurate treatment calculation.

2.7 Evaluate and approve new treatment aids and instruments.

2.8 Research and evaluate new developments in Radiation Oncology.

3. Treatment Planning

3.1 Evaluate treatment machine data and verify accuracy of computer calculations.

3.2 Review and approve new treatment procedures and update as required.

3.3 Calculate or review benchmark calculations and studies for clinical trials.

4. Maintenance and Quality Assurance

4.1 Review QA records of radiation producing equipment.

4.2 Perform or review regular calibrations and QA checks on radiation producing equipment.

4.3 Review results of test procedures for computer software updates.

4.4 Supervise maintenance of radioactive materials storage area.

4.5 Develop and implement a program of in-vivo dosimetry.

4.6 Develop and administer a comprehensive program of maintenance and calibration of instrumentation.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree in medical physics or physical sciences.

Current license in the State of Florida as a Therapeutic Radiological Physicist.

Current certification as a Therapeutic Radiologic Physicist (ABR TRP) by the American Board of Radiology.

Three years full-time clinical experience working under the direction of a physicist certified by the American Board of Radiology.
