Job Summary:

Bethany Christian Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Bilingual Teacher Aide to join our team. As a key member of our educational staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the instructional program in a preschool, elementary, or secondary learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning;
  • Support the delivery of lesson plans and tests that align with established procedures;
  • Monitor and assist students in the use of learning materials and equipment;
  • Effectively use technology to support and differentiate instruction;
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development;
  • Communicate regularly with Case Managers, Clinicians, foster parents, and supervisors regarding student progress, concerns, or needs;
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities;
  • Assist the teacher in delivering classroom activities;
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities;
  • Support the teacher in creating lesson plans and classroom curriculum;
  • Attend internal and external trainings, and apply newly gained knowledge on the job;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's level degree in Education from an accredited college, or some college coursework in Educational Instruction strongly preferred;
  • Bilingual: English and Spanish;
  • Prior work experience teaching ELL/ESL, preferred;
  • Demonstrated cross-cultural sensitivity, preferred;
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in Spanish and English with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis;
  • Preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds;
  • CPR, First Aid, and AEC certification upon hire or within 60 days of hire;
  • Flexibility and creativity in a diverse work setting;
  • Excellent attention to detail and highly organized;
  • Highly motivated and self-managed;
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions, including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
  • Valid driver's license with at least 3 years driving experience in the US to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany;
  • Pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Documentation of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases or the willingness to receive vaccination, or seek an exemption;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
