Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Care Staff to join our team. As a key member of our Adolescent Transitional Living Program, you will provide 24-hour shift supervision for youth and young adults, ages 16-18, in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide trauma-informed and relationship-based supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
  • Collaborate with the director and case managers to develop and implement individualized service plans that promote resident growth and development.
  • Complete critical organizational and administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the program.
  • Participate in supportive group and individual supervision sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and appropriate living environment for all residents.
  • Demonstrate de-escalation skills in stressful situations and use preventative behavior management techniques whenever possible.
  • Build therapeutic relationships with residents and promote engagement in various domains of their lives, including education, community, and cultural values.
  • Support the day-to-day routines of the house, including meal preparation, household chores, and activities of daily living.
  • Oversee the safety and cleanliness of the program and perform regular cleaning tasks as needed.
  • Accompany residents to individual appointments and community outings.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum one year of experience working with teens or young adults in foster care, group care, housing, education, juvenile justice, anti-poverty, vocational support, mental health, chemical dependency, and/or homelessness fields.
  • Ability to teach effective independence skills and plan supportive activities.
  • Strong youth engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to transport self and clients in a safe and effective manner and meet clients at community locations.
  • Current state-approved First Aid and CPR certification.
