JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Clinical Operations and Patient Care
  • Addresses clinical operation and patient care challenges.
Ability to conduct patient care activities within professional scope of practice, including but not limited to:

Point of Care Testing (POCT), intravenous (IV) insertion, patient interview/assessment/discharge/education, patient transportation, preparation and administration of pharmaceuticals/radiopharmaceuticals as applicable, etc.


  • Guarantees the safety of patients, families, staff, and visitors by consistently monitoring the environment.

Safely screens patients and manages the clinical and research-driven evaluation process for implanted devices to secure clearance for imaging procedures. This encompasses all aspects of patient event reporting and adherence to safety protocols.
Maintains stringent control over access to clinical areas and complies with all safety regulations.


  • Identifies signs of patient distress and initiates emergency response protocols as necessary.
  • Complies with all infection control standards.

Utilizes sterile or aseptic techniques where required and manages contrast media and delivery equipment in accordance with manufacturer/division standards, ensuring proper administration of contrast agents while observing the six rights of drug administration.


  • Demonstrates knowledge of Age-Specific Criteria in executing job responsibilities.
  • Collaborates with the team to recognize examination findings that necessitate immediate clinical intervention and alerts the interpreting radiologist accordingly.
  • Exhibits the ability to work effectively and cooperatively across all assigned areas.
  • Shows adaptability to the demands of patient care, including covering direct reports, adjusting schedules, and responding to emergency situations.
  • Travels to off-site regional patient care facilities as required.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of all imaging rooms and workspaces.

Responsible for the management of supplies within the section and ensures proper disposal of used materials.


  • Adheres to HIPAA regulations to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ensures all necessary patient documentation is complete and accurate.

Engages in effective communication practices and ensures timely transfer of images to PACS.


Global Strategic Alignment, Personnel, and Financial Administration
  • Enhances productivity and operational efficiency by collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team to resolve clinical care inquiries.
  • Assists in the formulation of new policies and procedures aimed at expediting patient care.

Technical Acumen

Establishes competencies for the team and demonstrates the technical skills necessary to provide high-quality examinations while adhering to all protocols.


  • Maintains and audits productivity standards and minimizes error rates.
  • Responsible for the proficient operation of all assigned imaging equipment and collaborates with relevant parties to address image quality concerns.
  • Accurately enters data into clinical systems and monitors equipment maintenance logs.

Required Education:

Graduate of a Radiology Technology, Ultrasound Technology, or Nuclear Medicine Technology program or an Associate of Applied Science degree.


Required Experience:

Two years of experience as a Registered Technologist and one year of lead/supervisory experience.


Required Certification:

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association.


Must have one of the following:

Registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) and licensure by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT).

Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) and licensure by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) as a Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT).

Registration by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
