Job Summary:
Meals on Wheels of San Francisco is seeking a Client Relationship Specialist - HDM Driver to join our team. As a Client Relationship Specialist - HDM Driver, you will be responsible for delivering meals to homebound seniors and young adults with disabilities, while also developing relationships with clients and assessing their well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver meals to clients in a timely and efficient manner
- Develop relationships with clients and assess their well-being
- Observe and report any changes in client conditions to the appropriate social worker
- Ensure that the correct number of meals is picked up from the kitchen and delivered to each client
- Load racks and bags of meals into vehicles for delivery
- Obey all traffic laws and maintain a good DMV record while driving
- Represent the agency with clients and the community in a courteous and respectful manner
- Complete paperwork during and after delivery of meals
- Collect client contributions and make out receipts for any cash or checks received
- Distribute MOWSF information to clients
- Maintain the cleanliness of vehicles
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Valid California Driver License and good driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to navigate as many as 80 flights of stairs
- Ability to work with a diverse client population
- Ability to tolerate the vibrations and bumping associated with driving a mid-size truck
- Ability to handle the stresses of traffic, lack of parking, and less than friendly drivers
Physical Demands:
- Driving: up to 7 hours a day in city traffic
- Sitting: up to 7 hours daily
- Lifting: up to 50 lbs
- Loading: loading of vehicles requires the ability to lift 45 lbs up to 20 times during a 10-15 minute period
- Pushing: pushing the rolling racks, carts, and meal baskets through the loading area
- Pulling: occasional, 50+ lbs
- Reaching: frequent, reaching while lifting will also occur frequently
- Climbing: many deliveries will require climbing stairs to the front door or between floors
- Walking: deliver to an average of 150 clients daily, walking distance could exceed 2 miles per day
- Kneeling: occasional
- Squatting: occasional
- Twisting: frequent
Route Demands:
- A route: house to house wide spread route, requires traveling several blocks between clients
- B route: combination route of wide spread house to house, and building to building
- C route: building to building with densely populated buildings, requires driving in city traffic, parking, and transporting multiple meals to the same space
Salary and Benefits:
$20.50 per hour, this is a regular full-time non-exempt position of 40 hours per week
Paid vacation and sick time are allowed and stated in the employee handbook
Health, dental, vision, accident, and life insurance is paid by the agency
