Old Dominion Freight Line is actively seeking a Local Pickup & Delivery Driver, also known as a City Driver. Our Local P&D Drivers will effectively operate various tractor-trailer combinations between company terminals and customer locations within the designated service area. These drivers are also responsible for sorting, handling, loading, and unloading freight at various sites. The average annual compensation for OD's Pickup & Delivery Drivers is $81,000. We offer a Tuition Reimbursement Program for recent graduates of accredited trucking schools. Local Drivers are vital members of our OD Family, ensuring accurate delivery and pickup of our customers' freight, thereby helping us fulfill our commitments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate vehicles in compliance with DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspections, maintenance, and the transport of hazardous materials.
  • Continuously transport self and/or freight throughout the service center on challenging surfaces.
  • Read and interpret shipping labels and complete necessary documentation related to freight movement, including shipping orders and freight bills.
  • Maintain availability for work to meet customer pickup and delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English, along with performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Possession of a valid commercial driver's license with doubles, triples, and tanker endorsements; Hazmat endorsement preferred.
  • A minimum of 12 months of prior tractor-trailer driving experience or completion of a State Certified, Licensed, and Safety Department approved driving school.
  • Must be at least 22 years of age.

Compensation:
The stated salary range reflects the company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, market conditions, and education.
