Dive Safety Specialist

The Dive Safety Coordinator plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals involved in activities under the Dive Construction Business Unit (DCBU). This position requires a strong understanding of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to diving, construction, and maritime safety.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement dive, construction, and maritime safety programs and policies.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments for DCBU operations and identify potential hazards.
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and standards related to diving, construction, and maritime safety.
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
- Communicate with project managers, dive teams, and other stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding of safety protocols.
- Collaborate with other safety professionals to integrate diving, construction, and maritime safety into overall safety programs.
- Conduct thorough investigations of incidents and near misses, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain detailed records of dive operations, including safety procedures, equipment inspections, and incident reports.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Establish and enforce medical fitness standards for divers and develop emergency response plans for diving incidents.
- Coordinate and provide training for dive personnel, including divers, support staff, and supervisors.
- Assist in ensuring that all personnel involved in diving activities hold the necessary certifications and qualifications.
- Provide support in the inspection and maintenance of diving equipment to ensure it meets safety standards.
- Regularly review and update dive safety procedures based on lessons learned and changes in industry standards.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
- CSP, ASP, CHST, or OHST designation preferred.
- 3-5 years of dive or marine safety experience required; 5-8 years of experience required if no degree.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to proactively identify issues and offer solutions.
- Understanding of Worker's Compensation, USL&H, and Jones Act Claims.
- Ability to work with a team and independently.
- Working knowledge of Root Cause Analysis.
