Job Title: Survey Technician Lead

Audubon Companies is seeking a highly skilled Survey Technician Lead to join our team. As a key member of our survey crew, you will be responsible for leading the work of a party engaged in surveying.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager and Project Manager to ensure daily survey activities are executed efficiently.
  • Work closely with the Registered Land Surveyor or Subcontractor Registered Land Surveyor to provide necessary data and information on projects requiring certified plats or drawings.
  • Maintain close communication with the Project Manager to ensure a thorough understanding of project scope and services.
  • Download and transmit data collected daily, ensuring timely delivery to clients.
  • Be prepared to assist clients in the field, adhering to safety protocols and wearing appropriate attire.
  • Lead survey crew, operate GPS, conventional total station, data collectors, and other surveying equipment.
  • Ensure a full understanding of project scope before mobilizing to the job site, ensuring all necessary supplies, equipment, and electronic data/information are available.
  • Submit time sheets and expense reports to the Business Manager weekly, including photographs of receipts for reimbursement.
  • Obtain the appropriate job number for time sheets and expense reports.
  • Troubleshoot technical difficulties encountered by the survey crew, contacting the Survey and Mapping Manager as needed.
  • Notify the Operations Manager immediately if equipment sustains damage or is not functioning properly.
  • Provide mentorship and training to new Survey Technicians as needed.
  • Attend kick-off meetings with the Survey Manager and clients as required.
  • Perform and lead survey crews for various surveying services, including preliminary surveys, construction staking, as-built surveys, depth of cover surveys, topographic surveys, re-route surveys, crossings surveys, ILI tracking, AGM placement, anomaly staking, and repair documentation and tank surveys/measurements.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a High School diploma or general education degree (GED). Completion of land surveying and land law coursework desirable.
  • At least 2+ years of relevant experience performing various types of preliminary surveys, construction staking, as-built surveys, depth of cover surveys, topographic surveys, ILI tracking, AGM placement, anomaly staking, and repair documentation and tank surveys/measurements, 5+ years preferred.
  • Working knowledge of survey equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate GPS, conventional total station, data collectors, and other surveying equipment.
  • Working knowledge and operational capabilities on Trimble, Sokkia, RD Locators, Pin Locators units.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
  • Knowledge and experience with ESRI ArcMap 9.x, AutoCAD, Pathfinder, and Carlson desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
