Key Responsibilities

The Operators play a crucial role in the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and repair of the District's Reverse Osmosis Treatment Facility, North and South Booster Stations, Concentrate Disposal systems, Raw Water Collection System, and Finished Water Conveyance line.

  • Manage the operations of a Reverse Osmosis Treatment Facility, including Ultraviolet disinfection, Chlorination, and pH control.
  • Ensure adherence to all State and EPA regulations.
  • Monitor raw and finished water flow rates and chemical dosing.
  • Conduct water quality analyses.
  • Utilize Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems for operational oversight and performance monitoring.
  • Maintain plant equipment and distribution systems to guarantee optimal functionality.
  • Adjust chemical feed systems in response to flow and demand variations.
  • Perform routine calibration and verification of analytical instruments.
  • Oversee maintenance of well house assets and booster pump stations as required.
  • Coordinate system repairs with external contractors.
  • Identify infrastructure to prevent damage during contractor operations.
  • Assist the Projects Department and consultants in project oversight.
  • Utilize the Asset Management database for data recording and workflow management.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and fulfill job responsibilities across varying schedules, including holidays and weekends, on-call duties, and overtime as necessary.
  • Respond to on-call issues within a 45-minute timeframe.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal regulations governing water operations, including collection and distribution systems.
  • Proficient in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other relevant computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain effective working relationships with District employees, management, consultants, governmental officials, and the public.
  • Exhibit a high level of customer service, professionalism, and sensitivity in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information.
  • Capable of analyzing and interpreting data to troubleshoot issues and make informed decisions.
  • Exhibit attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Understand and interpret blueprints and schematics; perform mathematical calculations relevant to the water treatment field.

Qualifications

  • Class "B" Water Treatment Operator Certification or higher, with the ability to obtain a Class "A" within two testing cycles.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a water treatment facility, including at least 1 year in a Class A water treatment plant.
  • Proficient in SCADA systems and computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, on-call rotations, and overtime as needed.
  • Class 3 Distribution Certification and Class 3 Collection Certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and successful completion of a background check required.

Working Environment and Physical Requirements

This role primarily involves fieldwork with occasional office duties and requires frequent travel to various work sites, including remote locations. Office tasks necessitate the use of standard office equipment such as computers and phones. Fieldwork may expose employees to varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous environments, including handling hazardous chemicals. The position demands a full range of physical motion, including frequent standing and walking on uneven terrain, using tools and equipment, accessing confined spaces, climbing, and lifting items weighing up to 100 pounds. The physical requirements outlined here are representative of those necessary for successful job performance.

Compensation

Salary range: Minimum $48,300/year to Maximum $88,700/year, based on qualifications and experience. ECCV is an equal opportunity employer.
