Position Overview

The part-time faculty member will engage in collaborative duties alongside the Program Chair, Clinical Coordinator, and Clinical Preceptors. Responsibilities include adherence to JRCERT accreditation standards, evaluating student learning outcomes, and contributing to curriculum development and implementation. The instructor is expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to their area of expertise while fostering collaborative relationships within the Bellevue College community and the broader radiation oncology field.

Compensation and Benefits

This adjunct position is assigned on a quarterly basis, with no guarantee of continued employment beyond the current term. Compensation for clinical and non-instructional roles is set at $52.21 per hour. New hires in the Adjunct Professor group will start at the minimum rate as per union agreements. For regular classes, the remuneration for a 5-credit lecture course is $7375.17, prorated based on assignment type and duration. Additional compensation may be available for high-demand positions, with stipends up to $8,350 annually, subject to funding and agreements.

Eligible employees may access a comprehensive benefits package through Washington State plans, which includes various medical, dental, life, and disability coverage options for employees and their dependents. Faculty working a combined load of at least 50% at Bellevue College and other Washington State public institutions for two consecutive quarters qualify for health and dental insurance starting in the second quarter.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate teaching and learning in both didactic and clinical environments.
  • Conduct assessments of student learning outcomes and provide timely feedback.
  • Participate in curriculum revisions integrating the latest research and best practices.
  • Employ diverse teaching strategies and innovative techniques, including technology integration, to support student achievement.
  • Engage with the advisory committee to align community interests with Radiation Therapy education.
  • Direct students to appropriate college resources as needed.
  • Engage in professional development related to teaching methodologies and Radiation Therapy education.
  • Support student success in alignment with the college's diversity and inclusion goals.
  • Maintain ARRT Radiation Therapy RT(T) credentials and Washington State Department of Health RT license.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical onboarding requirements, including CPR and immunizations.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and current ARRT credentials, state license, with a minimum of two years of experience as a radiation therapist.
  • Flexibility in teaching schedules is required for didactic instructors.
  • Clinical instructors must be available during scheduled clinic hours and may need to travel to clinical affiliates.
  • Experience supervising students in clinical settings is essential.
  • Current BLS CPR certification and up-to-date immunizations are required for clinical onboarding.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching at the community or college level, proficiency in evaluation and advising, additional modality certifications, and leadership experience in departmental scheduling and quality assurance.
