Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Communications Engineer to join our team at MITRE. As a key member of our Theater Command and Control and Homeland Defense Department, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of advanced data link communications systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, development, and testing of data link communications systems, including Link 16 and Mode 5 IFF.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data link functionality into the Advanced Battle Management system (ABMS) and Cloud Based Command and Control (CBC2) systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including system design documents and test plans.
  • Participate in system integration testing and issue resolution.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, communications, or a related field, with 8 years of related experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of experience.
  • DOD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a DOD TS/SCI clearance.
  • Strong technical skills in data link communications, combat identification, and command and control systems.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead small teams.
  • Willingness to travel 20-30% for events like system certification testing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Link 16 and data link communications network design, configuration, or operations.
  • Experience with IFF Mode 5 and Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast standards and operations.
  • Some experience with Java or Python programming languages.
