About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Communications Engineer to join our team at MITRE. As a key member of our Naval Enterprise and Sea Systems Department, you will be responsible for delivering innovative concepts, technologies, and methodologies that enable current and future Naval superiority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply analytical techniques to address the Navy's hardest communications challenges
  • Shape communications architectures by leveraging a strong understanding of industry trends and innovations
  • Modernize critical Naval capabilities through the development of technical specifications, and integration and test strategies
  • Clearly and concisely communicate highly technical analyses and recommendations to sponsors and partners in written and verbal products
  • Serve as a key contributor to or lead a dynamic, multi-disciplined and geographically dispersed teams that develops innovative technical solutions

Requirements:

  • Typically, Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field; or 3 years and an MS or a PhD with relevant experience
  • Possess the familiarity with Communications Engineering processes required to provide unbiased advice, formulate courses of action, analyze systems, and make recommendations
  • Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, software languages, platforms, and systems
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Familiarity with a range of systems engineering lifecycle activities including, but not limited to requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and sustainment
  • Active DOD Top Secret/SCI level security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of related experience in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, or a related field; or 6 years and an MS or a PhD with 3 years' experience
  • Previous experience with Naval Communication Systems, such as (but not limited to) terminal development and acquisition, co-site analysis, network architecture, link development, verification & validation testing
  • Research and development experience on one or more of the following areas: surface command, control, and communications, weapon systems, or sensing systems
  • Experience with C++, Python, MATLAB, or other modeling, development, and analysis tools
