Position Overview

The Office for Institutional Equity (OIE) at The Johns Hopkins University is in search of a dedicated and skilled Equity Compliance Analyst. This role is pivotal in addressing equal opportunity matters within the University community. Responsibilities include evaluating and investigating claims of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation, while also providing educational initiatives related to University policies on equal opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary contact for faculty, staff, and students regarding issues of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation.
  • Handle complaints from various community members with sensitivity, determining the necessity for investigation or appropriate referrals.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and investigations of complaints related to sexual misconduct, discrimination, and retaliation.
  • Interview complainants, respondents, witnesses, and management, while reviewing relevant documentation and evidence.
  • Prepare detailed reports based on investigative findings, including analyses of applicable laws and University policies.
  • Provide input and testimony in hearings or disciplinary proceedings arising from investigations.
  • Engage in the ongoing evaluation and development of University policies concerning sexual misconduct and discrimination.
  • Deliver training and educational sessions to University community members, including senior management, on relevant topics.
  • Participate in University-wide committees or initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in investigating and resolving discrimination and harassment complaints.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exceptional writing and analytical capabilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with high emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to manage conflict and work effectively with individuals under stress.
  • Capacity to work independently and efficiently while balancing multiple responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in relevant federal, state, and local laws.
