Position Overview:
The primary objective of this role is to provide support in the design and implementation of cutting-edge gas processing facilities within the renewable energy industry. The Commissioning Technician will collaborate closely with project managers at Vision RNG, acting as a subject matter expert in both process and mechanical design for capital projects. This position will play a vital role in assisting project teams with technology selection, vendor proposal evaluations, and the design and integration of various gas treatment technologies throughout the lifecycle of renewable natural gas plant development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver technical assistance to gas facility operations, ensuring the performance and integrity of gas conditioning and processing systems for reliable gas delivery.
- Identify and devise cost-effective solutions to operational challenges.
- Formulate design concepts and process designs aimed at enhancing system deliverability and reliability.
- Establish and maintain technical specifications and integrity plans for natural gas conditioning equipment and systems.
- Review and validate vendor equipment sizing and third-party engineering calculations.
- Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for modifications and new developments in natural gas storage facilities.
- Engage in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Draft process descriptions and contribute to the development of project Design Basis Memorandums and operational procedures for gas conditioning and processing systems.
- Adhere to and promote compliance with Vision RNG's engineering practices.
- Perform other related tasks as required by business needs or assigned projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Petroleum Engineering, with relevant gas processing experience considered.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering.
- Fundamental understanding of natural gas hydrocarbon phase behavior and thermodynamics.
- Basic knowledge of process simulation techniques.
- Awareness of process safety and risk management principles, including Process Hazard Analyses.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, and engineering piping schematics.
- Working knowledge of gas processing equipment, processes, and associated instrumentation.
- Strong decision-making and practical problem-solving capabilities.
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and proficiency in documentation.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong presentation abilities.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including managing multiple priorities, strong organizational capabilities, and team-building.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and work independently.
- Willingness to travel, including overnight stays, up to 50% of the time.
- Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license with a clean driving record.
