Position Overview

This is a part-time role requiring 18 hours per week, spread across three days.

The Physical Therapist is tasked with conducting evaluations for students and delivering therapy services in line with the individualized care plans established for each student, adhering to physician directives when necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts regular reassessments and evaluations of students to identify rehabilitation needs, collaborating with physicians and healthcare team members to adjust care plans as needed.
  • Contributes to the development of care plans in partnership with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • When necessary, performs comprehensive initial assessments of students and their families to ascertain physical needs, including detailed medical histories.
  • Evaluates therapeutic and rehabilitative statuses, assisting physicians in assessments as required.
  • Measures muscle strength, mobility, gait, and Range of Motion (ROM).
  • Manages incision lines post-orthopedic surgery, including the removal of staples or sutures.
  • Implements physical therapy treatments and formulates therapy plans.
  • Educates students, families, and caregivers on the use and maintenance of therapeutic devices.
  • Identifies priority needs for physical therapy interventions.
  • Communicates any changes in students' conditions or responses to treatment to the physician and nursing staff.
  • Initiates physical therapy programs and provides guidance to other personnel and caregivers regarding therapy phases, participating in case discussions to clarify therapy goals.
  • Trains students in the use of prosthetic and assistive devices, ensuring all equipment is functional and well-maintained.
  • Utilizes appropriate equipment to achieve student objectives, maintaining cleanliness and functionality according to manufacturer guidelines.
  • Prepares and submits clinical summaries and progress reports based on goal attainment and treatment responses.
  • Engages in peer consultation processes.
  • Supervises Physical Therapy Assistants in accordance with company policies and state regulations.
  • Participates in quarterly reviews of medical records as applicable.
  • Coordinates care with the company and other personnel to ensure cohesive support for the outlined care objectives.
  • Submits accurate and timely documentation in line with care plans and company policies.
  • Adheres to all relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing professional standards and practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current licensure as a Physical Therapist in the practicing state.
  • Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapy program.
  • Preferred: One year of professional experience in Physical Therapy.
  • Compliance with all relevant professional practice standards.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program as applicable.
  • Current CPR certification if required.
  • Completion of TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Must fulfill all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English are essential.
  • Proficiency in computer use is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
