We are seeking a highly skilled Diesel Mechanic/Fleet Technician CDL to join our team at Salt Lake County. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive maintenance and repairs on light, medium, and heavy equipment, including gas, diesel, compressed natural gas (CNG), and electric vehicles and equipment.
Job SummaryThis is a journeyman-level position that requires extensive physical labor, lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects over 50 pounds. You will work in a fast-paced environment, diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical and electrical problems, and ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive maintenance and repairs on light, medium, and heavy equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical problems
- Test and inspect equipment to ensure it is in good working condition
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including Utah State Inspections, Salt Lake County Emissions, and Fleet Management Information System
- Drive heavy equipment and trucks in and out of shop bays for maintenance
- Two (2) years of equivalent experience in a field closely related to these duties
- Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the State of Utah within ninety (90) days of hire date
- Complete set of tools at the time of hire
We offer a competitive salary of $36.15 per hour, depending on experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including 12 holidays, up to 24 vacation days, 12 sick days, and one personal day per year. Work EnvironmentYou will work in a fast-paced environment, with occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions, grease, dirt, dust, fumes, chemicals, smoke, and loud noises. You will also be required to work in confined spaces and elevated levels, and may be exposed to high volumes of traffic when performing road-call service work.
