The City of Rochester, MN is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian/Operator to join our Parks and Recreation team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and safety of our recreation centers, including the Graham Arena, National Volleyball Center, and Park Operations Center.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general custodial duties, including sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors, as well as cleaning restrooms, meeting rooms, and offices.
- Conduct building maintenance and minor repairs, including fixing locks, painting, and replacing electrical or plumbing fixtures.
- Operate and maintain various equipment, including scrubbers, buffers, forklifts, vacuums, blowers, carpet cleaners, and hand tools.
- Perform minor maintenance on ice rinks, including edging, shaving, flooding, and maintaining proper ice thickness.
- Prepare facilities for scheduled events, including setting up tables, chairs, and equipment.
- Monitor the work of part-time custodians and perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
- A high school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in janitorial, custodial, and/or building maintenance duties.
- A valid driver's license and a Class C Boilers License for the operation of low-pressure boilers (desired).
- Certified Ice Technician (CIT) certification with the United States Ice Rink Association or completion of any of the CIT courses within three years of hire (desired).
This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to dust, gas, fumes, steam, and chemicals. You will also be required to work outdoors, walk on uneven ground, and work around machinery and at heights.
