Job Summary

UPMC is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Exercise Physiologist to join our dynamic team at UPMC Kane. As a key member of our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation team, you will play a vital role in the development and implementation of individualized treatment plans for patients with cardiovascular disease.

Key Responsibilities
  • Emergency Response: Prepare for and respond to emergencies in a manner consistent with department guidelines.
  • Quality Improvement: Play an active role in developing, implementing, and gathering outcome data for the annual quality improvement initiative.
  • Meetings and Education: Conduct, organize, and participate in meetings, in-services, and continuing education.
  • Competencies and Feedback: Demonstrate annual competencies as required by department and participate in the Co-Worker Feedback program if asked.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Promote effective communication and demonstrate cooperation and teamwork within the department, the hospital, and to other healthcare professionals.
  • Staff Development and Orientation: Assist with staff development, orientation of new staff, special projects, and community programs upon request by Manager.
  • Clinical Support Staff: Utilize clinical support staff (training, supervision, and delegation) in a manner that promotes respect, confidence, and a team atmosphere.
  • Patient Treatment Plans: Develop and document individualized patient treatment plans, accurate with respect to patient's age and medical history, its implementation, and monitoring of progress and modifications as indicated.
  • Non-Invasive Cardiology Testing: Conduct a variety of non-invasive cardiology testing, including but not limited to 12 Lead EKGs, pacer clinics technical work, Holter monitoring hook-ups and processing, and stress testing.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Exercise Physiology or related program with a minimum Master's level preparation. Minimum of 300 hours of internship experience required.
  • Experience: OR Graduate of an accredited Exercise Physiology or related program with a minimum Bachelor's level preparation. 5 years of recent Cardiopulmonary Rehab experience and ACSM Certification. OR Graduate of an accredited Exercise Physiology or related program with a minimum Bachelor's level preparation. 10 years of recent Cardiopulmonary Rehab experience.
  • Continuing Education: 60 hours of continuing education every 3 years required.
  • Licensure and Certifications: BLS and ACLS or a willingness to acquire both is required. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. ACSM CEP, RCEP, or related certification is preferred.
