Position Summary
Provide comprehensive nursing care and counseling services as part of a dedicated healthcare team, ensuring the delivery of exceptional medical services according to established protocols. Collaborate closely with clinicians to support all clinical operations, encompassing Family Planning, Prenatal Care, Abortion Services, and Colposcopy.
Essential Functions- Deliver nursing care and counseling in various areas including family planning, prenatal care, colposcopy, abortion services, and HIV care, adhering to established protocols and assigned tasks.
- Coordinate patient care with clinicians, conducting thorough screenings for psychosocial, medical, and nutritional concerns. Provide counseling, education, and referrals when necessary.
- Play a vital role in providing comprehensive abortion care, including acting as the Charge Nurse responsible for managing patient flow.
- Offer compassionate counseling to patients undergoing medical or surgical abortions. Oversee post-operative patient care on surgical abortion days and supervise medical assistants working in the recovery room.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations by providing prompt nursing assessments and interventions.
- Perform post-surgical abortion phone calls to patients within 24-48 hours of the procedure, ensuring timely completion of follow-up paperwork.
- Triage family planning and gynecological patients, providing assistance to providers as needed.
- Prepare and administer medications and immunizations according to standing orders.
- Assist clinicians in patient follow-up activities related to abnormal laboratory results, pap smears, and other critical information.
- Provide phone triage for patients experiencing medical issues or seeking general health information.
- Conduct laboratory tests and provide comprehensive follow-up for abnormal results in collaboration with the clinician.
- Screen hormonal contraceptive users for warning signs and minor side effects, authorizing refills as directed by the clinician.
- Contribute to the management of the prenatal program, ensuring patients receive coordinated care. Deliver pre-natal education to patients, track and follow up on labs and referrals, manage missed appointments, monitor delivery outcomes, and ensure patient return for postpartum visits.
We seek a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse with a strong commitment to women's health. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred, along with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state where you will be practicing.
