Job Title: Controls Electrician Technician

We are seeking a skilled Controls Electrician Technician to join our team at General Mills in Buffalo, NY. As a Controls Electrician Technician, you will be responsible for supporting, creating, integrating, troubleshooting, and improving a variety of processing and packaging controls systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support and maintain existing controls systems, including Wonderware and PLC.
  • Create and implement new controls systems and modifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with controls systems.
  • Read and update electrical and control schematics, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Provide technical support and skills for equipment troubleshooting and controls/equipment modifications.
  • Design and layout circuits, install fixtures, wiring conduits, motors, and other electrical equipment/components.
  • Perform both uptime and downtime preventative electrical maintenance.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance.
  • Assist in training new employees.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • 3-5 years (minimum) of industrial electrical maintenance experience, including machine repair and troubleshooting.
  • Must be recognized as a Controls Technician by General Mills Buffalo Standards.
  • Electronic knowledge with 480v industrial wiring and troubleshooting experience.
  • PLC programming, troubleshooting, and instrumentation experience.
  • Experience with AB PLC platforms; Servo Control Systems; Robotic Controls Systems.
  • HMI experience, Wonderware or Rockwell Panelview preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting over surfaces.
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms.
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net, and gloves when required.
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions.
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery.
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment.

What We Offer:
  • $41.24 per hour (based on level of competency).
  • Additional $0.34 per hour for hours worked on 2nd shift.
  • Additional $0.41 per hour for hours worked on 3rd shift.

  • Time worked after 8 hours of work is paid at 1.5 times regular rate of pay.
