Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to Speech-Language Pathologists in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of students with communication disorders
  • Assist with the implementation of individualized speech and language therapy plans under the supervision of licensed SLPs
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to support students' communication goals and academic success
  • Conduct screenings and observations to identify students in need of speech and language services
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and participation in therapy sessions
  • Assist with the development and implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems for students with complex communication needs
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development opportunities, and other school-based activities as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field
  • Valid certification as a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) in the state of Virginia
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting preferred
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices and therapeutic techniques for speech and language disorders
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Commitment to providing high-quality services and support to students with diverse learning needs
