Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality of care in the utilization of radiation sources and imaging technologies, safeguarding both patients and staff from radiation exposure.
- Conduct necessary calibrations on medical equipment.
- Advise on and advocate for new equipment and products for the department.
- Perform equipment performance evaluations and implement quality control measures for imaging devices.
- Recommend and establish radiation safety protocols for areas utilizing radiation.
- Provide education and training to staff on radiation safety practices.
- Support all physics-related aspects of patient treatment, including collaboration with radiation oncologists, calculating radiation doses, designing and fabricating treatment aids, and ensuring the accuracy of treatment parameters.
Qualifications:
Licensure/Certification:
Medical Physicist credential from the American Board of Radiology is required within the first year of employment or job transfer.
Education:
A Master's or Doctorate degree in Physics, Chemistry, Medical Physics, Health Physics, or Radiological Sciences is required. Alternatively, candidates may be enrolled in a CAMPEP-accredited program or participating in an American Board of Radiology (ABR)-approved Structured Mentorship program.
