Job Summary
The Los Rios Community College District is seeking a qualified candidate for a part-time, temporary (Adjunct) faculty position in American Sign Language ASL/English Interpreting. This position is filled as needed through ongoing recruitment, and applicants are contacted and hired year-round based on college needs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching assigned classes under the supervision of the area dean, helping students master course content, assessing student learning outcomes, and maintaining a thorough knowledge of their teaching field. They will also be expected to continue professional development, utilize current technology, and adhere to professional conduct and ethics. Additionally, they will assist with articulation and curriculum development, participate in faculty governance, and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean.

Typical Duties
The instructional assignment may encompass teaching courses across all levels in American Sign Language ASL/English Interpreting. Specific courses offered may vary by campus, and may include:

  • INTRP 320 Simultaneous Interpreting
  • INTRP 325 Transliteration
  • INTRP 330 Introduction to Educational Interpreting, K-12

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must have any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience directly related to the assignment, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience directly related to the assignment. They must also have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
