Overview:

As a CNC Machine Operator II, you will play a crucial role in the production of high-quality machined components for the aerospace industry. You will collaborate closely with the Supervisor to ensure that all operations adhere to Piper Drawings, Process Specifications (PPS), and other manufacturing guidelines.

Your primary responsibility will be to assist in achieving or surpassing production and delivery targets while optimizing the use of company resources to fulfill organizational objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Operate multiple CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, and Manual/Vertical Mills.
  • Conduct inspections and approve your own work as well as that of your colleagues using Piper inspection certifications.
  • Assist in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions for nonconforming materials to minimize defects and waste.
  • Contribute to enhancing the operational efficiency of the Machine Shop through cost-saving initiatives, including tooling enhancements and setup time reductions.
  • Share knowledge and mentor team members to ensure they meet performance and production standards.
  • Comply with all safety, environmental, and operational protocols, including FOD and Tool Control, as well as 5S practices.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this position, you should possess:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a CNC Machine Operator program or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience requirements based on career progression:
    • CNC Machine Operator I: 2 years of experience
    • CNC Machine Operator II: 2-5 years of experience
    • Senior CNC Operator: 5 years of experience
  • The ability to work scheduled shifts, including overtime, with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in using hand and power tools as necessary.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with sound judgment.

Physical and Mental Demands:

This position requires:

  • The ability to perform a full range of motion for various tasks.
  • Visual and auditory acuity, along with manual dexterity to operate specialized equipment.
  • The capacity to endure extended periods of sitting, standing, or walking, and the ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A collaborative approach to working under pressure and prioritizing responsibilities.

Working Environment:

The role is primarily conducted indoors, with occasional outdoor tasks. You may encounter various environmental factors, including:

  • Odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Sharp objects and hazardous equipment.
  • Wet or slippery surfaces, along with temperature and humidity variations.
