Pastry Chef

Position Summary:

The Pastry Cook will oversee the daily operations of the pastry department, focusing on employee development, financial oversight, and facility management. This role is essential in crafting, implementing, and managing the pastry menu.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and direct food preparation activities.
• Manage food costs while controlling purchasing and inventory levels.
• Revise existing menus or develop new ones to ensure quality standards are met.
• Supervise the daily activities and responsibilities of pastry department staff.
• Engage with external suppliers to secure the best quality ingredients at competitive prices.
• Collaborate closely with the General Manager and Executive Chef.
• Adhere to nutrition and sanitation regulations as well as safety standards.
• Maintain accurate recipes, reports, and inventory data.
• Conduct daily checks of the pastry line.
• Effectively manage and mentor staff to ensure high-quality service.
• Educate front-of-house and back-of-house teams on new recipes and menu items.
• Meet with clients to discuss and finalize cake and pastry orders for special occasions.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is:

• Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers for handling, and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
• Able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
• Capable of standing for extended periods.
