Position Summary:

The Pastry Cook will oversee the daily operations of the pastry department, focusing on employee development, financial oversight, and facility management. This role involves the creation, implementation, and management of the pastry menu to ensure a delightful experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and direct food preparation activities.
  • Manage food costs and oversee purchasing and inventory control.
  • Revise existing menus or develop new ones to enhance quality and effectiveness.
  • Supervise the activities and daily responsibilities of pastry department staff.
  • Engage with external suppliers to secure the best quality ingredients at competitive prices.
  • Collaborate closely with the General Manager and Executive Chef.
  • Adhere to nutrition and sanitation regulations as well as safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate recipes, reports, and inventory data.
  • Conduct daily checks of the pastry line.
  • Guide and mentor staff to ensure high-quality service.
  • Educate front-of-house and back-of-house staff on new recipes and menu items.
  • Meet with clients to discuss and finalize cake and pastry orders for special occasions.

Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of sanitation and workplace safety regulations.
  • Ability to learn food-handling techniques and cooking procedures.
  • Efficient and quick work ethic.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure.
  • Commitment to personal cleanliness.
  • Willingness to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is:

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers for handling and feeling, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
  • Able to lift up to 15 pounds as needed.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods.
