Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Sr. Motor Control Systems Engineer to lead the design and implementation of advanced motor control algorithms and embedded software for our eVTOL aircraft. This role involves developing high-quality technical contributions, meeting project timelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement closed-loop position control systems for permanent magnet motors, including redundant architectures and multi-phase motors controlled from servo drives.
  • Develop traditional and sensor-less control strategies for permanent magnet propulsion motors, incorporating inverter modulation techniques, current control, trajectory control, fault detection, and efficiency optimization.
  • Optimize motor control algorithms using MATLAB and PLECS.
  • Test and integrate motor controls with actuator test rigs.
  • Perform dynamometer testing and data interpretation for controls development, validation, and improvement.
  • Develop motor controller firmware architecture.
  • Bring up next-generation motor controllers.
  • Write interface code for sensors and digital communication.
  • Design and develop prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints.
  • Write high-quality structured bare metal software for embedded processors (e.g., ARM, PowerPC, x86).
  • Implement embedded software to meet requirements, ensuring verification and traceability.
  • Collaborate with power electronics, motor design, and electromechanical engineers to develop motor control systems.
Requirements
  • Fast learner with hands-on experience in an agile startup environment.
  • Able to work on-site at Santa Ana location.
  • BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 5+ years of experience in Motor Control or related fields.
  • Familiarity with microcontroller architectures and communication protocols.
  • Prior experience with automotive/robotics/industrial motor drives.
  • Working knowledge of power electronic converters and inverters.
Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary range of $100,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package also includes:
