Full-Time Roles: $500 total. $250 on the first paycheck, $250 on the paycheck after 6 months of successful employment.

Part-Time Roles: $250 total. $100 on the first paycheck, $150 on the paycheck after 6 months of successful employment.

Role Responsibilities:

A Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) will act as an advocate and mentor for Transition Age Youth (ages with serious mental health challenges and/or emotional disturbances) to foster community support, navigate mental health systems, and access essential resources. This role emphasizes the maintenance of wellness and recovery based on personal lived experiences, aiming to INSPIRE HOPE and empower youth to realize their full potential and overcome life’s challenges.

A CPS will meet with youth at least weekly in their homes and communities, focusing on personal wellness, developing coping skills, enhancing social skills, identifying educational and employment opportunities, improving functioning in their environments, and practicing daily living skills.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Peer Specialist (CPS).
  • Valid driver's license, insurance, and access to a vehicle.
  • Ability to travel locally in your own vehicle for offsite meetings as required.
  • Transport youth to various community locations as necessary.
  • Availability to work at least 10 hours/week, including a minimum of 3 evenings.
  • Demonstrated stability and competency in personal wellness and recovery, along with effective coping strategies.
  • Ability to reflect the culture and understand the values of the Transition Age Youth demographic.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and computer skills.

Key Functions:

  • Engage in weekly individual supervision sessions.
  • Attend required training sessions to maintain CPS certification.
  • Utilize office equipment provided for essential job functions (phone, tablet).
  • Document session activities through electronic health records, progress notes, and program-specific paperwork.
  • Ensure program files are organized and paperwork is completed within required deadlines.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule, including evening hours.
  • Meet weekly with all assigned youth on your caseload.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues in both individual and team settings.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with youth, peers, and community representatives.
  • Implement the 5 core values of Trauma-Informed Care in all work practices: Safety, Trustworthiness, Choice, Collaboration, & Empowerment.
