POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer (QE) is responsible for ensuring that all product components sourced from both internal and external suppliers meet the highest standards of quality and are devoid of defects. The QE plays a critical role in verifying that products comply with regulatory, corporate, and manufacturing standards. This role involves data analysis and close collaboration with suppliers and internal teams to enhance product quality, as well as improving manufacturing processes to reduce costs and lead times. The QE will also provide quality metrics and propose solutions for quality improvement initiatives as part of a collaborative team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Exhibit the core values of the organization while contributing to the company’s vision and mission, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and guidelines.
  • Conduct inspections and approvals in accordance with manufacturing specifications and performance criteria.
  • Engage with suppliers and internal teams to address nonconformities, identifying root causes and corrective measures.
  • Work collaboratively with suppliers and internal resources to optimize manufacturing processes, aiming to minimize costs and lead times.
  • Manage the customer complaint process, from gathering customer feedback to implementing corrective actions.
  • Conduct internal audits of procedures as necessary.
  • Be available for overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proficiency in programming CMM software, along with a strong background in manufacturing or mechanical engineering, including tooling, CNC, and manual machining, is essential. Practical experience with quality measurement instruments is required. Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean methodologies, ISO standards, and GD&T training is preferred.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to foster teamwork and collaboration.
  • Hands-on experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS) and testing methodologies.
  • Strong aptitude for root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective actions.
  • Experience with quality tools such as 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, etc., is required.
  • Proficiency in using metrology tools, including calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measurement machines.
  • Experience with PPAP (Preproduction Approval Process) methods is advantageous.
  • Experience in evaluating machined parts, cast components, and subcontracted assemblies is necessary.
  • Experience in collaborating with offshore suppliers is preferred.
  • Experience in drafting inspection plans is a plus.
  • Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) is required.
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools for evaluating process capability is preferred.
  • Experience in conducting First Article Inspections (FAI) is required.
  • Must be willing to comply with a drug-free workplace policy.
