Position Overview:
The Clinical Nutrition Specialist at Jackson Hospital is responsible for delivering comprehensive nutrition education and counseling to both individuals and groups. This role emphasizes the fundamental principles of nutrition, fostering healthy eating habits, and monitoring dietary practices to enhance overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

- Evaluate client nutritional status and assess relevant laboratory results.
- Formulate tailored medical nutrition therapy plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses.
- Engage in departmental and interdisciplinary quality improvement initiatives.
- Identify nutritional needs and dietary restrictions to create effective dietary-care plans and provide nutritional guidance.


Qualifications:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or Dietetics from an accredited program recognized by the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Completion of a Dietetic Internship, Coordinated Undergraduate Program (CUP), or a Master's Degree with relevant work experience is required.

Experience:
Previous experience in a hospital setting is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:
Registration:
Must possess current registration with the American Dietetic Association (ADA) or be eligible to take the ADA Registration Exam. Candidates must successfully pass the registration exam within two attempts.

Licensure:

If not already licensed in the state, candidates must apply to the state Board of Examiners for Dietetic/Nutrition Practice within 30 days of employment.


Tools and Resources:
Proficient use of nutrition manuals, dietary menus, computers, calculators, and educational materials related to nutrition.

Essential Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Basic proficiency in computer and calculator usage. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to diverse age groups.

Physical Requirements:
Good auditory and visual capabilities. Ability to communicate effectively in various formats. Physical endurance to stand and walk for extended periods.
