Surgical Technologist Role Overview

This role involves working with a surgical team to ensure quality care is provided to patients. You'll be responsible for assisting surgeons by being familiar with procedures, instruments, supplies, and equipment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Consistently demonstrate superior customer service skills and provide quality care to internal and external customers.
  • Assist in patient assessment, planning, and implementation of care.
  • Demonstrate ability to use supplies, equipment, and instruments correctly.
  • Maintain strict principles of aseptic technique during procedures and equipment processing.
  • Show competence in assisting with surgical procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on health and safety policies, regulatory agency requirements, quality improvement processes, facility and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Participate in identifying and implementing improvements in delivering quality care.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to requests for assistance from patients and staff.
  • Use judgment when seeking consultation from circulating nurses and other unit nursing staff.
  • Maintain composure and initiate emergency care as necessary according to ACLS guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to select supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needed for patient care.
  • Protect and disclose Optum patients' protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current WA State Surgical Technologist Registration (ST)
  • Current AHA/BLS Certification
