Surgical Technologist Role Overview
This role involves working with a surgical team to ensure quality care is provided to patients. You'll be responsible for assisting surgeons by being familiar with procedures, instruments, supplies, and equipment.
Main Responsibilities:
- Consistently demonstrate superior customer service skills and provide quality care to internal and external customers.
- Assist in patient assessment, planning, and implementation of care.
- Demonstrate ability to use supplies, equipment, and instruments correctly.
- Maintain strict principles of aseptic technique during procedures and equipment processing.
- Show competence in assisting with surgical procedures.
- Stay up-to-date on health and safety policies, regulatory agency requirements, quality improvement processes, facility and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Participate in identifying and implementing improvements in delivering quality care.
- Respond promptly and courteously to requests for assistance from patients and staff.
- Use judgment when seeking consultation from circulating nurses and other unit nursing staff.
- Maintain composure and initiate emergency care as necessary according to ACLS guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to select supplies, instrumentation, and equipment needed for patient care.
- Protect and disclose Optum patients' protected health information (PHI) in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Current WA State Surgical Technologist Registration (ST)
- Current AHA/BLS Certification
