Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at St. David's Medical Center in Texas. As a Travel Nurse RN - Pre-Op PACU, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced preoperative care unit.

Responsibilities
  • Preoperative Care: Assist with preparing patients for surgery, including administering medications, performing vital signs, and conducting preoperative assessments.
  • Meditech Charting: Accurately document patient information and medical history using Meditech, our electronic medical record system.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • IV Skills: Administer medications and fluids via IV, as well as perform other IV-related tasks.
  • Block Experience: Assist with anesthetic blocks, including preparing patients and administering medications.
  • Port Access: Perform port access procedures, including inserting and removing central lines.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families on preoperative and postoperative care, as well as provide emotional support.
Requirements
  • Experience: 1+ year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a preoperative care unit or similar setting.
  • Certifications: Current RN licensure in the state of Texas and BLS certification.
  • Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
  • Shifts: 5:30am-2:00pm, with possible late stays based on patient volume.
  • Call Requirements: No call required.
  • Patient Ratios: 3:1, with the ability to fluctuate based on patient volume.
  • Equipment: Dynamap for vitals, Mobilab lab, and Pyxis medication management system.
