Women's Health Nurse Practitioner Job Description

Ocean Health Initiatives is seeking a highly skilled Women's Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our Women's Health Department, you will provide primary care services to patients, working collaboratively with staff physicians, CNMs, and APNs to ensure high-quality, cost-effective clinical care.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and manage individual women's health patient care, anticipating and recognizing deviations from normal, initiating treatment, and consulting with a physician as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all physicians and other providers and staff to carry out the goals and objectives of OHI, according to established policies and procedures.
  • Provide continuing care to assigned patients in the office setting, ordering diagnostic tests, medications, and lab tests as indicated, analyzing, interpreting, and synthesizing data to apply to patient management.
  • Provide education and counseling for patients, families, and community groups on various health conditions, functioning as a member of a multi-disciplinary healthcare team.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinic policies, procedures, and protocols, as needed to achieve OHI goals and objectives.
  • Support health center colleagues with internal referrals when clinically appropriate, collecting patient information and recording patient information, such as medical history and examination results.
  • Ensure all patient charts justify prescribed treatment and include findings/progress, and plan of care, in accordance with OHI policy and procedures.
  • Provide medical care for all individuals without regard to ability to pay, race, color, origin, or creed, according to OHI policy.
  • Provide consultation, guidance, and direction to medical support staff to ensure continuity and quality of care services.
  • Effectively, efficiently, and timely complete all paperwork requirements for billing and medical records compliance.
  • Advise patients on good health practices, using effective clinical judgment in referring patients and receiving referrals, referring patients to specialists when required and in accordance with their insurance restrictions.
  • Develop and implement goals and objectives to ensure high-quality, cost-effective clinical care, ensuring all patient charts are completed within 24 hours of the patient visit and the charting is accurate to support clinical and documentation requirements via EMR.
  • Active participant in OHI's performance improvement process, departmental meetings, and other OHI meetings as scheduled, willingness to work evenings and weekends at all OHI sites as needed, and willingness to provide on-call services as scheduled.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing is required.
  • Three to five years' experience at RN level in medical center, private practice, or long-term care setting is required.
  • Active State of New Jersey RN and Advanced Practice Nurse License are required.
  • Active State of New Jersey CDS and DEA License to prescribe and maintain controlled substances are required.
  • Certification by the New Jersey State Board of Nursing as an Advanced Practice Nurse is required.
  • BLS for providers through the American Heart Association is required.
