Position Overview
The Surgical Technician plays a crucial role in the surgical department, ensuring a sterile and well-equipped environment for surgical procedures.
- Department: Surgical Services
- Work Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, with on-call responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness and sterility in the operating rooms by performing terminal cleaning daily, which includes comprehensive decontamination of all surfaces, equipment, and air ventilation systems.
- Manage the transportation of surgical case carts, tools, and supplies while adhering to safety protocols for hazardous waste disposal.
- Oversee inventory levels of surgical supplies, ensuring they are maintained at optimal levels.
- Assist clinical nursing staff with patient positioning, lifting, and transferring as needed.
Qualifications
Licensure/Certification:
- Current BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is preferred.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent, or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience is required.
- Professional licensure or certification may substitute for educational requirements.
