The CNC Vertical Milling Specialist II plays a crucial role in the precision machining of components to fulfill client specifications with minimal supervision from the area Lead or Supervisor. This position involves operating and performing light setups by selecting and installing appropriate tooling, updating fixtures, and retrieving CNC machining programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate effectively with team members, demonstrating strong teamwork skills.
- Capable of operating machinery and executing light setups independently.
- Interpret and comprehend blueprints, drawings, and related technical documentation.
- Conduct minor preventative maintenance as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
- Receive daily directives from the Production Supervisor and plan daily tasks using the 'Shop Floor Control System.'
- Exhibit proven skills in setting up and operating machine centers.
- Possess knowledge in Rotary or Indexing capabilities for 3 to 5 axis milling.
- Adjust feeds and speeds to optimize efficiency.
- Enhance processes to achieve peak operational efficiency.
- Document and save updated programs, documents, and images.
- Record time for operations according to the work order sequence number.
- Inspect parts to ensure compliance with blueprint specifications using appropriate gauges.
- Deburr components during the manufacturing process.
- Provide training to operators prior to the commencement of production.
- Assist in training new hires or apprentices.
- Collaborate with teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and conduct quality assurance checks.
- Meet established goals and objectives in a timely manner.
- Engage with organizational team members and other departments professionally.
- Contribute to the development of departmental strategic plans.
- Adhere to ISO9001:2008 and ISO13485:2003 certification and compliance standards.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures and best practices in machine operation.
- Comply with safety regulations and OSHA standards.
- Follow all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of three to five years of relevant work experience.
- Enrollment in vocational education or completion of a four-year formal apprenticeship is preferred.
- Solid understanding of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading and GD&T.
- Extensive knowledge of accepted inspection methodologies.
- Familiarity with CNC programming and G & M codes.
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of tool probing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in operating computer numerical control machines.
- Ability to read blueprints to ensure precision in part fabrication.
- Basic proficiency in the English language.
- Understanding of three and four axis machining processes.
- Working knowledge of computers is essential.
- Ability to interpret verbal and written instructions and work from hand-drawn sketches.
- Proven knowledge of G-Code programming and machine operations.
- Effective verbal, written, and communication skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Visual acuity for reading machine dials, blueprints, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and address operational changes.
- Frequent standing, walking, pushing, reaching overhead, and bending.
- Frequent sitting and manual dexterity for handling tools and controls.
- Occasional lifting or moving of items up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
- Ability to lift and lower weights between 30-50 pounds.
- Exposure to high noise levels from machinery operation.
- Potential physical hazards from moving equipment and machine components.
- Exposure to fumes, dust, and mist.
