Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse for Adult Programs is responsible for overseeing the healthcare needs of residents and providing nursing support for various programs. Key duties include managing medical records, monitoring health statuses, and supervising medication administration by trained support professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate training for medication administration staff, including comprehensive training sessions and annual evaluations.
- Conduct thorough nursing assessments to evaluate physical and mental health, medical history, and medication orders annually or as necessary.
- Administer the Health Risk Screening Tool for each resident on an annual basis.
- Evaluate residents' abilities to self-administer medications at least once a year using established assessment tools.
- Ensure that each resident's health is reviewed by a qualified healthcare provider at least once a year.
- Receive and verify medications, ensuring all labeling and orders meet regulatory requirements.
- Review medication administration records monthly for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of controlled substances and document their usage.
- Conduct quarterly random observations of medication administration practices and provide retraining as necessary.
- Inspect medications for expiration dates on a quarterly basis.
- Analyze medication error reports monthly and collaborate with management to create corrective action plans.
- Stay informed and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
Required Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois.
- Completion of Nurse Trainer certification by the appropriate regulatory body.
- A minimum of two years of nursing experience in a similar environment.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations.
- Clean professional and background record.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Experience in managing medications effectively.
- Ability to engage positively with clients and staff.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
