Role Overview:

Under the guidance of the Brain Health Manager, the Brain Health Dietitian collaborates with patients, families, healthcare providers, and external organizations to create tailored dietary plans for individuals with neurological conditions. This role focuses on patients from various neuroscience programs, including but not limited to:

  • Neuromuscular Disorders
  • Neuroimmunology
  • Movement Disorders
  • Memory Disorders
  • Headaches

The Brain Health Dietitian also partners with medical directors to enhance outpatient services and community education initiatives, ensuring comprehensive support for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients and their families to identify educational needs and develop personalized care plans.
  • Adapt care plans based on patient feedback and outcomes, ensuring effective teaching strategies are employed.
  • Utilize available resources to facilitate a seamless continuum of care for patients and their families.
  • Deliver engaging one-on-one and group educational sessions.
  • Stay updated with the latest in neuro/medical nutrition therapy to provide the best care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in patient records in line with departmental standards.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries from patients and healthcare professionals.
  • Manage patient referrals and scheduling efficiently.
  • Develop and recommend clinical protocols to enhance neuroscience care quality.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills to manage various assignments effectively.
  • Participate in community outreach programs as designated by the department.
  • Provide expert guidance to the neuroscience care team and nursing staff.
  • Conduct training sessions and continuing education programs to address identified needs.
  • Ensure the availability of educational materials and resources for training purposes.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Dietetics
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in neuroscience dietetics
  • At least four years of clinical experience

Licensure and Certification:

  • Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Active registered dietitian status with the Commission of Dietetic Registration
  • Active registered dietitian status in the state of Florida
