Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department. You will perform diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures, monitor patients receiving invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation, and assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
• Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
• Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
• Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

Requirements

• Certificate
• State Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician, or State Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT), or Licensed Certified Respiratory Therapist (LCRT), or RRT/Respiratory Care Practitioner (RRT / RCP)
