Clinical Admissions Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Admissions Specialist to join our team at Oasis Behavioral Health. As a key member of our admissions team, you will be responsible for facilitating the intake process for patients, ensuring a smooth transition into our care. Your expertise in clinical assessments and utilization review will be instrumental in determining the most appropriate level of care for each patient.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to inquiries from referral sources and patients in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
- Perform benefit eligibility assessments to ensure patients have active benefits at the time of admission.
- Collaborate with medical and psychiatric personnel to ensure accurate recommendations for patient care.
- Coordinate admissions and transfers between levels of care within the facility.
- Maintain knowledge of milieu management principles.
- Communicate projected admissions to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
- Ensure all clinical information is received prior to patient admission, when possible.
- Schedule and complete pre-admission assessments, consult with the admitting physician, and communicate disposition recommendations to patients or their families.
- Prepare and maintain accurate medical record documentation to support authorization requests.
- Complete initial pre-authorization for treatment and admission, when possible, and within payor timeframe guidelines.
- Admit patients into the registration and accounting system, complete admission and consent forms, and demonstrate a positive and professional attitude towards patients and families.
- Bachelor's degree in a social services field, or Master's degree in a related field (psychology, counseling, social work, sociology, health administration, nursing) or RN preferred.
- Three or more years' experience in mental/behavioral health, with a focus on clinical or observational work.
- Experience in managed care pre-certification, level of care assessments, and utilization review preferred.
- Current licensure, as required for the area of clinical specialty, and CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
