Overview

Under the supervision of the Director, the Cardiac Sonographer operates advanced ultrasound machinery to generate high-quality cardiac images in accordance with established protocols. The examinations conducted encompass adult echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, contrast echocardiograms, transesophageal echocardiograms, and pediatric echocardiograms.

It is imperative to maintain exceptional quality standards in all imaging procedures and to furnish the interpreting physician with comprehensive information necessary for accurate diagnosis.

The role necessitates collaboration with various departments to ensure timely and efficient execution of procedures for all parties involved.

Qualifications


A minimum of an Associate of Science degree in a healthcare discipline and successful completion of a cardiac ultrasound training program; OR completion of a two-year Echocardiogram training program; OR eligibility for on-site training by obtaining an Associate of Science in a healthcare field or a Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline, accompanied by two years of relevant cardiac healthcare experience.

Certification Requirements

Current CPR certification is mandatory.

A valid Echocardiography license from the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography) or CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) is required, or registry eligible with certification to be obtained within 12 months of graduation.

Experience

Prior experience in a comparable position is preferred.

Additional Skills

Possess the ability and knowledge to image various anatomical structures while distinguishing artifacts. Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs, with shared lifting of up to 150 lbs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. A working knowledge of general computer skills and applications is required. The ability to multi-task and work independently using critical thinking skills is crucial. Willingness to share responsibility for covering call, weekends, and holidays is expected.
