College Success Coach

Join our team at the Goddard Riverside Community Center as a College Success Counselor, where you will play a vital role in supporting students to achieve their academic goals.
About the Role:We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to provide intensive one-on-one counseling to students enrolled in college, maximizing their opportunities for success. As a College Success Counselor, you will work closely with students, staff, and community partners to ensure students receive the support they need to persist in post-secondary education.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized counseling to students, focusing on class registration, degree planning, transfer support, financial aid procedures, and academic and personal concerns.
- Track and evaluate student and program performance, reporting on progress and making recommendations for improvement.
- Build and maintain relationships with college staff and community partners to advocate for students and facilitate their success.
- Develop and implement curricula and resources for workshops and events, planning and co-facilitating College Transition orientations and other student enrichment activities.
- Assist with last-dollar grants and monetary support distribution, and coordinate transportation for students as needed.
- Collaborate with staff from partner organizations and Options' college access and training teams to share information and strengthen programs.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Experience working with young people in a youth development or educational setting, or working to help students succeed on a college/university campus.
- Knowledge of the U.S. higher education system, particularly in New York City and State, including CUNY, SUNY, and support programs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to establish and maintain relationships with college staff and community partners.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with high attention to detail and meeting deadlines.
