Job Summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a highly skilled Histology Technician III to join our team in the Research Histology service facility. This is a full-time regular position that requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of experience in a related field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments, including determining experimental protocols and preparing specimens and cultures.
  • Prepare reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analysis.
  • Oversee specimen inventory and develop documentation for publication.
  • Craft manuscripts and grant proposals.
  • Support the histology technicians and manager with daily lab operations, including receiving and distributing projects, database management, sample preparation, equipment maintenance, and reagent formulation.
  • Prepare and facilitate the organization of projects and transfer materials to and from the imaging department.
  • Undergo training in basic areas of histology to assist the techs as needed.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Ability to sit and stand at the bench for long periods, read small print on tubes and vials, bend and lift to put away lab supplies, and lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to walk back and forth between buildings to go to different lab sites.
