Job Overview:

The Senior Financial Analyst will possess a comprehensive grasp of financial principles, familiarity with accounting systems such as NetSuite or equivalent, and the capability to operate autonomously with minimal oversight. This role will deliver financial assistance to the organization by preparing, scrutinizing, and interpreting financial information, conducting ad hoc analyses, and generating key performance reports. The position will collaborate closely with the management team to ensure consistent reporting metrics across various projects.

Position Type:

This is a full-time, exempt role.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
    • Overseeing the month-end closing process, including the examination and analysis of all trial balance accounts to guarantee the accuracy of financial reports in compliance with U.S. GAAP.
    • Developing insightful closing packages that encapsulate essential production and financial trends for management evaluation.
    • Evaluating financial and quantitative data pertinent to company productions, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of financial statements.
    • Recording journal entries (including intercompany transactions), preparing reconciliations for balance sheets and income statements, and conducting trend analyses, as well as generating invoices for intercompany billing.
    • Producing monthly and weekly reports that encompass key metrics, schedules, and variance analyses related to film and television productions.
  • Audit and Compliance Management
    • Executing audits of departments and processes within the organization, including the preparation of audit reports for management review.
    • Promoting process enhancements and automating manual workflows to achieve efficiency in auditing and compiling necessary deliverables for internal reporting and external audits.
    • Testing and reporting on internal controls to ensure adherence to GAAP and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Providing analytical, forecasting, reporting, and project support to management as required.
    • Performing other job-related duties as assigned while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • CPA certification preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Prior experience in accounting, finance, business, or a related field is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in auditing, accounting, or a similar work environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise judgment when solutions are not clear.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as experience with ERP systems and accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Capacity to manage multiple competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to function within the guidelines of the policies implemented by management, including adherence to dress code, use of property, job competence, and integrity.
  • Ability to perform the physical and mental requirements of the job and adhere to the Company's attendance policy.

Work Environment:

This position operates in a clerical, office setting. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Work may be conducted in a combination of office and potential outdoor environments as necessary. Employees may be required to work weekends or evenings as needed.
